Chapter 14
1לַמְנַצֵּחַ לְדָוִד אָמַר נָבָל בְּלִבּוֹ אֵין אֱלֹהִים הִֽשְׁחִיתוּ הִֽתְעִיבוּ עֲלִילָה אֵין עֹֽשֵׂה־טֽוֹבFor the leader. Of David. The scoundrel thinks, “God does not care.” Human deeds are corrupt and loathsome; no one does good.Lamnatzecha ledavid amar naval belibo eyn elohim hishchitu hitivu alilah eyn oseh-tov
2יְֽהֹוָה מִשָּׁמַיִם הִשְׁקִיף עַֽל־בְּנֵי־אָדָם לִרְאוֹת הֲיֵשׁ מַשְׂכִּיל דֹּרֵשׁ אֶת־אֱלֹהִֽיםGOD looks down from heaven on humankind to find someone with understanding, someone mindful of God.Yehovah mishamayim hishkif al-beney-adam lirot hayesh maskil doresh et-elohim
3הַכֹּל סָר יַחְדָּו נֶאֱלָחוּ אֵין עֹֽשֵׂה־טוֹב אֵין גַּם־אֶחָֽדAll have turned bad, altogether foul; there is no one who does good, not even one.Hakol sar yachdav neelachu eyn oseh-tov eyn gam-echad
4הֲלֹא יָדְעוּ כׇּל־פֹּעֲלֵי אָוֶן אֹכְלֵי עַמִּי אָכְלוּ לֶחֶם יְהֹוָה לֹא קָרָֽאוּAre they so witless, all those evildoers, who devour my people as they devour food, and do not invoke GOD?Halo yadu kol-poaley aven ochley ami achlu lechem Adonai lo karau
5שָׁם פָּחֲדוּ פָחַד כִּֽי־אֱלֹהִים בְּדוֹר צַדִּֽיקThere they will be seized with fright, for God is present in the circle of the righteous.Sham pachadu fachad ki-elohim bedor tzadik
6עֲצַת־עָנִי תָבִישׁוּ כִּי יְהֹוָה מַחְסֵֽהוּYou may set at naught the counsel of the lowly, but GOD is their refuge.Atzat-ani tavishu ki Adonai machsehu
7מִי־יִתֵּן מִצִּיּוֹן יְשׁוּעַת יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּשׁוּב יְהֹוָה שְׁבוּת עַמּוֹ יָגֵל יַעֲקֹב יִשְׂמַח יִשְׂרָאֵֽלO that the deliverance of Israel might come from Zion! When GOD restores the fortunes of this covenanted people, Jacob will exult, Israel will rejoice.Mi-yiten mitzion yeshuat yisrael beshuv Adonai shevut amo yagel yaakov yismach yisrael
