יְדִיד נֶֽפֶשׁ אָב הָרַחֲמָן. מְשׁוֹךְ עַבְדְּךָ אֶל רְצוֹנֶֽךָ. יָרוּץ עַבְדְּךָ כְּמוֹ אַיָּל יִשְׁתַּחֲוֶה אֶל מוּל הֲדָרֶֽךָ. יֶעֱרַב לוֹ יְדִידוֹתֶֽיךָ. מִנֹּֽפֶת צוּף וְכָל טָֽעַם:Beloved of the soul, merciful Father, draw Your servant to Your will. [Then] Your servant will run like a deer; he will bow before Your splendor. To him, Your affections will be sweeter than the drippings of the honeycomb and all [other pleasant] tastes.
הָדוּר נָאֶה זִיו הָעוֹלָם. נַפְשִׁי חוֹלַת אַהֲבָתֶֽךָ. אָֽנָּא אֵל נָא רְפָא נָא לָהּ. בְּהַרְאוֹת לָהּ נֹֽעַם זִיוֶֽךָ. אָז תִּתְחַזֵּק וְתִתְרַפֵּא. וְהָיְתָה לָהּ שִׂמְחַת עוֹלָם:Splendid, Beautiful, Radiance of the world, my soul is lovesick for You. I beseech You, Almighty, please, heal her by showing her the pleasantness of Your radiance. Then she will be strengthened and healed and she will have everlasting joy.
וָתִיק יֶהֱמוּ נָא רַחֲמֶֽיךָ וְחֽוּסָה נָא עַל בֵּן אֲהוּבֶֽךָ. כִּי זֶה כַּמָּה נִכְסוֹף נִכְסַפְתִּי לִרְאוֹת מְהֵרָה בְּתִפְאֶֽרֶת עֻזֶּֽךָ. אֵֽלֶּה חָמְדָה לִבִּי וְחֽוּסָה נָא וְאַל תִּתְעַלֵּם:Ancient One—let Your mercy be aroused, and please have pity upon Your beloved child; for it is long that I have yearned to behold soon the glory of Your strength. These my heart has desired, please have pity and do not conceal Yourself.
הִגָּלֶה נָּא וּפְרוֹס חֲבִיבִי עָלַי אֶת סֻכַּת שְׁלוֹמֶֽךָ. תָּאִיר אֶֽרֶץ מִכְּבוֹדֶֽךָ. נָגִֽילָה וְנִשְׂמְחָה בָּךְ. מַהֵר אֶהֹב כִּי בָא מוֹעֵד וְחָנֵּֽנוּ כִּימֵי עוֹלָם:Reveal Yourself, please and spread over me, my Beloved, the shelter of Your peace, let the earth be illuminated from Your glory, we will exult and rejoice in You. Hasten, show [us Your] love, for the time has come, and be gracious unto us as in days of old.

לְכוּ נְרַנְּנָה לַיהֹוָה נָרִֽיעָה לְצוּר יִשְׁעֵֽנוּ:נְקַדְּמָה פָנָיו בְּתוֹדָה בִּזְמִרוֹת נָרִֽיעַ לוֹ:כִּי אֵל גָּדוֹל יְהֹוָה וּמֶֽלֶךְ גָּדוֹל עַל־כָּל־אֱלֹהִים:אֲשֶׁר בְּיָדוֹ מֶחְקְרֵי־אָֽרֶץ וְתוֹעֲפוֹת הָרִים לוֹ:אֲשֶׁר־לוֹ הַיָּם וְהוּא עָשָֽׂהוּ וְיַבֶּֽשֶׁת יָדָיו יָצָֽרוּ:בֹּֽאוּ נִשְׁתַּחֲוֶה וְנִכְרָֽעָה נִבְרְכָה לִפְנֵי־יְהֹוָה עֹשֵֽׂנוּ:כִּי הוּא אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ וַאֲנַֽחְנוּ עַם מַרְעִיתוֹ וְצֹאן יָדוֹ הַיּוֹם אִם־בְּקֹלוֹ תִשְׁמָֽעוּ:אַל־תַּקְשׁוּ לְבַבְכֶם כִּמְרִיבָה כְּיוֹם מַסָּה בַּמִּדְבָּר:אֲשֶׁר נִסּֽוּנִי אֲבוֹתֵיכֶם בְּחָנֽוּנִי גַּם־רָאוּ פָעֳלִי:אַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה אָקוּט בְּדוֹר וָאֹמַר עַם תֹּעֵי לֵבָב הֵם וְהֵם לֹא־יָדְעוּ דְרָכָי:אֲשֶׁר־נִשְׁבַּֽעְתִּי בְאַפִּי אִם־יְבֹאוּן אֶל־מְנוּחָתִי:
שִֽׁירוּ לַיהֹוָה שִׁיר חָדָשׁ שִֽׁירוּ לַיהֹוָה כָּל־הָאָֽרֶץ:שִֽׁירוּ לַיהֹוָה בָּרְכוּ שְׁמוֹ בַּשְּׂרוּ מִיּוֹם־לְיוֹם יְשׁוּעָתוֹ:סַפְּרוּ בַגּוֹיִם כְּבוֹדוֹ בְּכָל־הָעַמִּים נִפְלְאוֹתָיו:כִּי גָדוֹל יְהֹוָה וּמְהֻלָּל מְאֹד נוֹרָא הוּא עַל־כָּל־אֱלֹהִים:כִּי כָּל־אֱלֹהֵי הָעַמִּים אֱלִילִים וַיהֹוָה שָׁמַֽיִם עָשָׂה:הוֹד־וְהָדָר לְפָנָיו עֹז וְתִפְאֶֽרֶת בְּמִקְדָּשׁוֹ:הָבוּ לַיהֹוָה מִשְׁפְּחוֹת עַמִּים הָבוּ לַיהֹוָה כָּבוֹד וָעֹז:הָבוּ לַיהֹוָה כְּבוֹד שְׁמוֹ שְׂאוּ־מִנְחָה וּבֹֽאוּ לְחַצְרוֹתָיו:הִשְׁתַּחֲווּ לַיהֹוָה בְּהַדְרַת־קֹֽדֶשׁ חִֽילוּ מִפָּנָיו כָּל־הָאָֽרֶץ:אִמְרוּ בַגּוֹיִם יְהֹוָה מָלָךְ אַף־תִּכּוֹן תֵּבֵל בַּל־תִּמּוֹט יָדִין עַמִּים בְּמֵישָׁרִים:יִשְׂמְחוּ הַשָּׁמַֽיִם וְתָגֵל הָאָֽרֶץ יִרְעַם הַיָּם וּמְלֹאוֹ:יַעֲלֹז שָׂדַי וְכָל־אֲשֶׁר־בּוֹ אָז יְרַנְּנוּ כָּל־עֲצֵי־יָֽעַר:לִפְנֵי יְהֹוָה כִּי בָא כִּי בָא לִשְׁפֹּט הָאָֽרֶץ יִשְׁפֹּט־תֵּבֵל בְּצֶֽדֶק וְעַמִּים בֶּאֱמוּנָתוֹ:Sing to Adonoy a new song Sing to Adonoy all the [inhabitants of] earth. Sing to Adonoy, bless His Name, proclaim His deliverance from day to day. Recount His glory among the nations, His wonders among all the peoples. For Adonoy is great and most extolled; He is awesome above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols, whereas Adonoy made the heavens. Beauty and splendor are before Him, strength and glory are in His Sanctuary. Ascribe to Adonoy—families of peoples— —ascribe to Adonoy honor and might! Ascribe to Adonoy the honor due His Name, bring an offering and come to His courtyards. Prostrate yourselves before Adonoy in the splendor of holiness; tremble before Him all (peoples of) the earth! Declare among the nations, “Adonoy reigns!” for He established the world so that it cannot be moved, He will judge the peoples with uprightness. The heavens will rejoice, the earth will exult, the sea and its fullness will roar. The field and all that is in it will jubilate, then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy. Before Adonoy when He comes— when He comes to judge the earth; He will judge mankind with justice, and peoples with His truth.
יְהֹוָה מָלָךְ תָּגֵל הָאָֽרֶץ יִשְׂמְחוּ אִיִּים רַבִּים:עָנָן וַעֲרָפֶל סְבִיבָיו צֶֽדֶק וּמִשְׁפָּט מְכוֹן כִּסְאוֹ:אֵשׁ לְפָנָיו תֵּלֵךְ וּתְלַהֵט סָבִיב צָרָיו:הֵאִֽירוּ בְרָקָיו תֵּבֵל רָאֲתָה וַתָּחֵל הָאָֽרֶץ:הָרִים כַּדּוֹנַג נָמַֽסּוּ מִלִּפְנֵי יְהֹוָה מִלִּפְנֵי אֲדוֹן כָּל־הָאָֽרֶץ:הִגִּֽידוּ הַשָּׁמַֽיִם צִדְקוֹ וְרָאוּ כָל־הָעַמִּים כְּבוֹדוֹ:יֵבֽשׁוּ כָּל־עֹֽבְדֵי פֶֽסֶל הַמִּתְהַלְלִים בָּאֱלִילִים הִשְׁתַּחֲווּ־לוֹ כָּל־אֱלֹהִים:שָׁמְעָה וַתִּשְׂמַח צִיּוֹן וַתָּגֵֽלְנָה בְּנוֹת יְהוּדָה לְמַֽעַן מִשְׁפָּטֶֽיךָ יְהֹוָה:כִּי־אַתָּה יְהֹוָה עֶלְיוֹן עַל־כָּל־הָאָֽרֶץ מְאֹד נַעֲלֵֽיתָ עַל־כָּל־אֱלֹהִים:אֹהֲבֵי יְהֹוָה שִׂנְאוּ רָע שֹׁמֵר נַפְשׁוֹת חֲסִידָיו מִיַּד רְשָׁעִים יַצִּילֵם:אוֹר זָרֻֽעַ לַצַּדִּיק וּלְיִשְׁרֵי־לֵב שִׂמְחָה:שִׂמְחוּ צַדִּיקִים בַּיהֹוָה וְהוֹדוּ לְזֵֽכֶר קָדְשׁוֹ:When Adonoy is [universally accepted as] King the earth will exult; the multitudes of islands will rejoice. Clouds and dense darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundations of His throne. Fire will go before Him to surround and burn His antagonists. His lightning illuminates the inhabited world, the earth sees and trembles. The mountains melt like wax before Adonoy, before the Master of all the earth. The heavens will declare His righteousness and all the peoples will behold His glory. Humiliated will be all who serve graven images, who are proud of idols; before Him all gods will bow. Zion will hear and rejoice, and the daughters [cities] of Judah will exult because of Your judgments, Adonoy. For You, Adonoy, are most high over all the earth; You are greatly exalted above all gods. Lovers of Adonoy, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His pious ones; from the hand of the wicked, He saves them. Light is sown for the righteous, and for the upright in heart—joy. Rejoice, righteous ones, in Adonoy, and give thanks to His holy Name.
מִזְמוֹר שִֽׁירוּ לַיהֹוָה שִׁיר חָדָשׁ כִּי־נִפְלָאוֹת עָשָׂה הוֹשִֽׁיעָה־לּוֹ יְמִינוֹ וּזְרֽוֹעַ קָדְשׁוֹ:הוֹדִֽיעַ יְהֹוָה יְשׁוּעָתוֹ לְעֵינֵי הַגּוֹיִם גִּלָּה צִדְקָתוֹ:זָכַר חַסְדּוֹ וֶאֱמוּנָתוֹ לְבֵית יִשְׂרָאֵל רָאוּ כָל־אַפְסֵי־אָֽרֶץ אֵת יְשׁוּעַת אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ:הָרִֽיעוּ לַיהֹוָה כָּל־הָאָֽרֶץ פִּצְחוּ וְרַנְּנוּ וְזַמֵּֽרוּ:זַמְּרוּ לַיהֹוָה בְּכִנּוֹר בְּכִנּוֹר וְקוֹל זִמְרָה:בַּחֲצֹצְרוֹת וְקוֹל שׁוֹפָר הָרִֽיעוּ לִפְנֵי הַמֶּֽלֶךְ יְהֹוָה:יִרְעַם הַיָּם וּמְלֹאוֹ תֵּבֵל וְיֽשְׁבֵי בָהּ:נְהָרוֹת יִמְחֲאוּ־כָף יַֽחַד הָרִים יְרַנֵּֽנוּ:לִפְנֵי־יְהֹוָה כִּי בָא לִשְׁפֹּט הָאָֽרֶץ יִשְׁפֹּט־תֵּבֵל בְּצֶֽדֶק וְעַמִּים בְּמֵישָׁרִים:A Psalm. Sing to Adonoy, a new song for He has performed wonders; His right hand effected deliverance for Him [as did] His holy arm. Adonoy has made known His deliverance, before the eyes of the nations He has revealed His justice. He remembered His kindliness and faithfulness to the House of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the deliverance of our God. Raise your voice unto Adonoy all [inhabitants of] the earth! burst forth into exultation, sing, and play music! Play to Adonoy with a harp, with harp and the sound of music. With trumpets and the sound of the shofar raise your voices before the King, Adonoy. The sea and its fullness, will roar with joy! [also] the world and those who dwell therein. Rivers will clap hands, together, mountains will sing. Before Adonoy when He comes to judge the earth; He will judge mankind with righteousness and peoples with uprightness.
יְהֹוָה מָלָךְ יִרְגְּזוּ עַמִּים ישֵׁב כְּרוּבִים תָּנוּט הָאָֽרֶץ:יְהֹוָה בְּצִיּוֹן גָּדוֹל וְרָם הוּא עַל־כָּל הָעַמִּים:יוֹדוּ שִׁמְךָ גָּדוֹל וְנוֹרָא קָדוֹשׁ הוּא:וְעֹז מֶֽלֶךְ מִשְׁפָּט אָהֵב אַתָּה כּוֹנַֽנְתָּ מֵישָׁרִים מִשְׁפָּט וּצְדָקָה בְּיַעֲקֹב אַתָּה עָשִֽׂיתָ:רוֹמְמוּ יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ וְהִשְׁתַּחֲווּ לַהֲדֹם רַגְלָיו קָדוֹשׁ הוּא:משֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן בְּכֹהֲנָיו וּשְׁמוּאֵל בְּקֹרְאֵי שְׁמוֹ קֹרִאים אֶל־יְהֹוָה וְהוּא יַעֲנֵם:בְּעַמּוּד עָנָן יְדַבֵּר אֲלֵיהֶם שָׁמְרוּ עֵדֹתָיו וְחֹק נָֽתַן־לָֽמוֹ:יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ אַתָּה עֲנִיתָם אֵל נֹשֵׂא הָיִֽיתָ לָהֶם וְנֹקֵם עַל־עֲלִילוֹתָם:רוֹמְמוּ יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ וְהִשְׁתַּחֲווּ לְהַר קָדְשׁוֹ כִּי־קָדוֹשׁ יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ:When Adonoy is [universally accepted as] King, peoples will tremble; [Before Him Who is] enthroned on Cherubim, the earth will quake. Adonoy, is great in Zion, and is high above all the peoples. They will pay homage to Your Name, [saying], great and awesome, It is holy. The might of the King is [evidenced in] His love of justice, You have established uprightness, justice and charity amid Jacob You have instituted. Exalt Adonoy, our God, and prostrate yourselves at His footstool, holy is He. Moses and Aaron among His priests, and Samuel among those who invoke His Name, called to Adonoy, and He answered them. In a pillar of cloud He spoke to them ; they preserved His testimonies and the statute which He gave them. Adonoy, our God, You answered them; You were a forgiving God to them, [yet] You took vengeance for their misdeeds. Exalt Adonoy, our God, and prostrate yourselves at His holy mountain; for Adonoy, our God, is holy.

A Psalm of David. Ascribe to Adonoy— you sons of the mighty — ascribe to Adonoy glory and might. Ascribe to Adonoy the glory due His Name, prostrate yourselves before Adonoy in the splendor of holiness. Adonoy's voice is upon the waters. Almighty of glory thunders, Adonoy is upon [the] many waters. The voice of Adonoy is in power, the voice of Adonoy is in beauty. The voice of Adonoy breaks cedars, Adonoy shatters the cedars of Lebanon. He makes them leap like a calf, Lebanon and Sirion like unicorns. The voice of Adonoy hews out flames of fire. The voice of Adonoy makes the desert tremble, Adonoy makes tremble the desert of Kadesh. The voice of Adonoy causes hinds to calve, and strips the forests bare; and in His Sanctuary all proclaim [His] glory. Adonoy sat enthroned (even) at the flood Adonoy is enthroned as King forever. Adonoy will give strength to His people; Adonoy will bless His people with peace.
אָנָּא בְּכֹֽחַ גְּדֻלַּת יְמִינְךָ תַּתִּיר צְרוּרָה:קַבֵּל רִנַּת עַמְּךָ שַׂגְּבֵֽנוּ טַהֲרֵֽנוּ נוֹרָא:נָא גִבּוֹר דּוֹרְשֵׁי יִחוּדְךָ כְּבָבַת שָׁמְרֵם:בָּרְכֵם טַהֲרֵם רַחֲמֵם צִדְקָתְךָ תָּמִיד גָּמְלֵם:חֲסִין קָדוֹשׁ בְּרֹב טוּבְךָ נַהֵל עֲדָתֶֽךָ:יָחִיד גֵּאֶה לְעַמְּךָ פְּנֵה, זוֹכְרֵי קְדֻשָּׁתֶֽךָ:שַׁוְעָתֵֽנוּ קַבֵּל וּשְׁמַע צַעֲקָתֵֽנוּ יוֹדֵֽעַ תַּעֲלוּמוֹת:בָּרוּךְ שֵׁם כְּבוֹד מַלְכוּתוֹ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד:Please, by the force of Your great right hand, release the bound one. Accept the prayer of Your people; strengthen us, purify us, Awesome One! Please! Mighty One, those who seek Your Unity, preserve them like the pupil [of Your eye]. Bless them, purify them, have compassion on them; Your benevolent righteousness [may You] always bestow upon them. Mighty, Holy One, in Your abundant goodness, lead Your community. Unique One, Exalted, turn to Your people who are mindful of Your holiness. Accept our prayer and hear our cry, [You] Who knows hidden thoughts. Blessed [is His] Name, Whose glorious kingdom is forever and ever.
לְכָה דוֹדִי לִקְרַאת כַּלָּה. פְּנֵי שַׁבָּת נְקַבְּלָה:This poem was written by Rabbi Solomon Halevy Alkabetz, whose name שְׁלֹמֹה הַלֵוִי is spelled out by the first letter of each stanza. In this poem, the bridegroom (Israel) calls to his Beloved Friend (God) asking that He join him in welcoming his bride (the Sabbath). The concept of welcoming the Sabbath goes back to Talmudic times. Rabbi Chanina robed himself and stood at sunset on the eve of the Sabbath and exclaimed, “Come! Let us go forth to welcome the Sabbath Queen.” Rabbi Yanai garbed himself in festive attire on Sabbath eve and exclaimed; “Come bride, Come bride” (Shabbos 119a). Come my Beloved Friend to greet the bride, let us welcome the Sabbath.
שָׁמוֹר וְזָכוֹר בְּדִבּוּר אֶחָד. הִשְׁמִיעָֽנוּ אֵל הַמְיוּחָד. יְהֹוָה אֶחָד וּשְׁמוֹ אֶחָד. לְשֵׁם וּלְתִפְאֶֽרֶת וְלִתְהִלָּה:“Preserve” and “Remember” in a single utterance the One Almighty caused us to hear; Adonoy is One, and His Name is One; for fame, for glory, and for praise.
לְכָה דוֹדִי לִקְרַאת כַּלָּה. פְּנֵי שַׁבָּת נְקַבְּלָה:Come my Beloved Friend to greet the bride, let us welcome the Sabbath.
לִקְרַאת שַׁבָּת לְכוּ וְנֵלְכָה. כִּי הִיא מְקוֹר הַבְּרָכָה. מֵרֹאשׁ מִקֶּֽדֶם נְסוּכָה. סוֹף מַעֲשֶׂה בְּמַחֲשָׁבָה תְּחִלָּה:To greet the Sabbath, come let us go for it is the source of blessing; from the very beginning, of old, it was appointed; last in creation, first in [God's] thought.
לְכָה דוֹדִי לִקְרַאת כַּלָּה. פְּנֵי שַׁבָּת נְקַבְּלָה:Come my Beloved Friend to greet the bride, let us welcome the Sabbath.
מִקְדַּשׁ מֶֽלֶךְ עִיר מְלוּכָה. קֽוּמִי צְאִי מִתּוֹךְ הַהֲפֵכָה. רַב לָךְ שֶֽׁבֶת בְּעֵֽמֶק הַבָּכָא. וְהוּא יַחְמוֹל עָלַֽיִךְ חֶמְלָה:Sanctuary of the King, royal city, arise, come forth from the upheaval; too long have you dwelt in the valley of weeping; He will show you abundant pity.
לְכָה דוֹדִי לִקְרַאת כַּלָּה. פְּנֵי שַׁבָּת נְקַבְּלָה:Come my Beloved Friend to greet the bride, let us welcome the Sabbath.
הִתְנַעֲרִי מֵעָפָר קֽוּמִי. לִבְשִׁי בִּגְדֵי תִפְאַרְתֵּךְ עַמִּי. עַל יַד בֶּן יִשַּׁי בֵּית הַלַּחְמִי. קָרְבָה אֶל נַפְשִׁי גְּאָלָהּ:Shake the dust off yourself, arise, dress up in your garments of glory, my people; through the son of Yishai the Bethlehemite, draw near to my soul and redeem it.
לְכָה דוֹדִי לִקְרַאת כַּלָּה. פְּנֵי שַׁבָּת נְקַבְּלָה:Come my Beloved Friend to greet the bride, let us welcome the Sabbath.
הִתְעוֹרְרִי. הִתְעוֹרְרִי. כִּי בָא אוֹרֵךְ קֽוּמִי אֽוֹרִי. עֽוּרִי עֽוּרִי שִׁיר דַּבֵּֽרִי. כְּבוֹד יְהֹוָה עָלַֽיִךְ נִגְלָה:Wake up! wake up! for your light has come, arise and shine. Awaken! awaken! utter a song, The glory of Adonoy is revealed upon you.

לֹא תֵבֽוֹשִׁי וְלֹא תִכָּלְמִי. מַה תִּשְׁתּוֹחֲחִי וּמַה תֶּהֱמִי. בָּךְ יֶחֱסוּ עֲנִיֵּי עַמִּי. וְנִבְנְתָה עִיר עַל תִּלָּהּ:Feel not ashamed or humiliated why are you bowed down, why do you moan? In you will take refuge the poor of my people; and the city will be rebuilt on its ancient site.
לְכָה דוֹדִי לִקְרַאת כַּלָּה. פְּנֵי שַׁבָּת נְקַבְּלָה:Come my Beloved Friend to greet the bride, let us welcome the Sabbath.
וְהָיוּ לִמְשִׁסָּה שֹׁסָֽיִךְ. וְרָחֲקוּ כָּל מְבַלְּעָֽיִךְ. יָשִׂישׂ עָלַֽיִךְ אֱלֹהָֽיִךְ. כִּמְשׂוֹשׂ חָתָן עַל כַּלָּה:They will be ravaged, those who ravaged you, and they will be cast far off, all who devour you. Your God will rejoice over you as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride.

יָמִין וּשְׂמֹאל תִּפְרֽוֹצִי. וְאֶת יְהֹוָה תַּעֲרִֽיצִי. עַל יַד אִישׁ בֶּן פַּרְצִי. וְנִשְׂמְחָה וְנָגִֽילָה:Right and left you will spread out. and Adonoy, you will praise; through the man descended from Peretz we will rejoice and exult.

בּֽוֹאִי בְשָׁלוֹם עֲטֶֽרֶת בַּעְלָהּ. גַּם בְּשִׂמְחָה וּבְצָהֳלָה. תּוֹךְ אֱמוּנֵי עַם סְגֻלָּה. בֹּֽאִי כַלָּה בֹּֽאִי כַלָּה בֹּֽאִי כַלָּה שַׁבָּת מַלְכְּתָא:Come in peace, crown of her husband, come rejoicing and with good cheer; amidst the faithful of the treasured people. It is good to thank Adonoy, and sing praise to Your Name, Most High. To relate Your kindliness in the morning, and Your faithfulness in the nights. Upon a ten-stringed instrument and lute, in meditation upon the harp. For You have given me joy, Adonoy, with Your deeds, at the work of Your hands I sing joyously. How great are Your works, Adonoy; how infinitely profound are Your thoughts. An empty-headed man cannot know, nor does a fool understand this: When the wicked bloom like grass, and all the evildoers blossom— it is so that they may be destroyed forever. But You will remain on high forever Adonoy. For behold, Your enemies, Adonoy; For behold, Your enemies shall perish; dispersed shall be all evildoers. You uplifted my horn like that of a unicorn; I am saturated with fresh oil. My eye has seen [the defeat of] those who spy on me; of the wicked who rise against me, my ears have heard [that they are doomed]. The righteous will blossom like a date palm, like a cedar in Lebanon, he will grow tall. Planted in the House of Adonoy, in the courtyards of our God they will blossom. They will still be fruitful in old age; they will be full of sap and freshness. To declare that Adonoy is upright; He is my Stronghold; in Whom there is no injustice.
יְהֹוָה מָלָךְ גֵּאוּת לָבֵשׁ לָבֵשׁ יְהֹוָה עֹז הִתְאַזָּר אַף־תִּכּוֹן תֵּבֵל בַּל־תִּמּוֹט:נָכוֹן כִּסְאֲךָ מֵאָז מֵעוֹלָם אָֽתָּה:נָשְׂאוּ נְהָרוֹת יְהֹוָה נָשְׂאוּ נְהָרוֹת קוֹלָם יִשְׂאוּ נְהָרוֹת דָּכְיָם:מִקֹּלוֹת מַֽיִם רַבִּים אַדִּירִים מִשְׁבְּרֵי־יָם אַדִּיר בַּמָּרוֹם יְהֹוָה:עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ נֶאֶמְנוּ מְאֹד לְבֵיתְךָ נָֽאֲוָה־קֹּֽדֶשׁ יְהֹוָה לְאֹֽרֶךְ יָמִים:Adonoy had begun His reign He has clothed Himself with majesty; Adonoy has clothed Himself, He has girded Himself with strength. He has firmly established the world so that it cannot be moved. Your throne stands firm from of old, You are from eternity. The rivers have raised—Adonoy— the rivers have raised their voice, the rivers raise their raging waves. More than the sound of many waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea Mighty on high, are You, Adonoy. Your testimonies are extremely faithful, holiness is becoming to Your House, Adonoy—for the length of days.
יִתְגַּדַּל וְיִתְקַדַּשׁ שְׁמֵהּ רַבָּא (אָמֵן) בְּעָלְמָֽא דִּי־בְרָא כִרְעוּתֵהּ וְיַמְלִיךְ מַלְכוּתֵהּ בְּחַיֵּיכוֹן וּבְיוֹמֵיכוֹן וּבְחַיֵּי דְכָל־בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל בַּעֲגָלָא וּבִזְמַן קָרִיב וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן:יְהֵא שְׁמֵהּ רַבָּא מְבָרַךְ לְעָלַם וּלְעָלְמֵי עָלְמַיָּא יִתְבָּרַךְ וְיִשְׁתַּבַּח וְיִתְפָּאַר וְיִתְרוֹמַם וְיִתְנַשֵּׂא וְיִתְהַדָּר וְיִתְעַלֶּה וְיִתְהַלָּל שְׁמֵהּ דְקוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא לְעֵֽלָּא מִן־כָּל־ (בעשי"ת לְעֵֽלָּא לְעֵֽלָּא מִכָּל) בִּרְכָתָֽא וְשִׁירָתָֽא תֻּשְׁבְּחָתָֽא וְנֶחָמָתָֽא דַּאֲמִירָן בְּעָלְמָֽא וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן:עַל יִשְׂרָאֵל וְעַל רַבָּנָן וְעַל תַלְמִידֵיהוֹן וְעַל כָּל תַּלְמִידֵי תַלְמִידֵיהוֹן. וְעַל כָּל מָאן דְּעָסְקִין בְּאוֹרַיְתָא. דִּי בְאַתְרָא הָדֵין וְדִי בְכָל אֲתַר וַאֲתַר. יְהֵא לְהוֹן וּלְכוֹן שְׁלָמָא רַבָּא חִנָּא וְחִסְדָּא וְרַחֲמִין וְחַיִּין אֲרִיכִין וּמְזוֹנָא רְוִיחֵי וּפוּרְקָנָא מִן קֳדָם אֲבוּהוֹן דְבִשְׁמַיָּא (וְאַרְעָא) וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן:יְהֵא שְׁלָמָֽא רַבָּֽא מִן־שְׁמַיָּֽא וְחַיִּים עָלֵֽינוּ וְעַל־כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן:עוֹשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם (בעשי"ת הַשָּׁלוֹם) בִּמְרוֹמָיו הוּא יַעֲשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם עָלֵֽינוּ וְעַל כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן:Exalted and sanctified be His great Name in the world which He created according to His will and may He rule His kingdom. In your lifetime and in your days, and in the lifetime of the entire House of Israel, speedily and in the near future— and say Amein. May His great Name be blessed forever and for all eternity. Blessed and praised, glorified, and exalted and uplifted, honored and elevated and extolled be the Name of the Holy One, blessed is He; above (Ten Days of Penitence: far above) all the blessings and hymns, praises and consolations which we utter in the world—and say Amein. Upon Israel, and upon our Sages, and upon their disciples, and upon all the disciples of their disciples, and upon all those who engage in Torah study in this land and in every land. May there be unto them and unto you abundant peace, favor, kindness, compassion, long life, ample sustenance and redemption from their Father Who is in heaven and on earth, —and say Amein. May there be abundant peace from heaven and a good life for us and for all Israel, —and say Amein. He Who makes peace (Ten Days of Penitence: the peace) in His high heavens may He, in His mercy, make peace for us and for all Israel, —and say Amein.
בַּמֶּה מַדְלִיקִין וּבַמָּה אֵין מַדְלִיקִין. אֵין מַדְלִיקִין לֹא בְלֶכֶשׁ, וְלֹא בְחֹסֶן, וְלֹא בְכָלָךְ, וְלֹא בִפְתִילַת הָאִידָן, וְלֹא בִפְתִילַת הַמִּדְבָּר, וְלֹא בִירוֹקָה שֶׁעַל פְּנֵי הַמָּיִם. וְלֹא בְזֶפֶת, וְלֹא בְשַׁעֲוָה, וְלֹא בְשֶׁמֶן קִיק, וְלֹא בְשֶׁמֶן שְׂרֵפָה, וְלֹא בְאַלְיָה, וְלֹא בְחֵלֶב. נַחוּם הַמָּדִי אוֹמֵר, מַדְלִיקִין בְּחֵלֶב מְבֻשָּׁל. וַחֲכָמִים אוֹמְרִים, אֶחָד מְבֻשָּׁל וְאֶחָד שֶׁאֵינוֹ מְבֻשָּׁל, אֵין מַדְלִיקִין בּוֹ:
אֵין מַדְלִיקִין בְּשֶׁמֶן שְׂרֵפָה בְּיוֹם טוֹב. רַבִּי יִשְׁמָעֵאל אוֹמֵר, אֵין מַדְלִיקִין בְּעִטְרָן, מִפְּנֵי כְבוֹד הַשַּׁבָּת. וַחֲכָמִים מַתִּירִין בְּכָל הַשְּׁמָנִים, בְּשֶׁמֶן שֻׁמְשְׁמִין, בְּשֶׁמֶן אֱגוֹזִים, בְּשֶׁמֶן צְנוֹנוֹת, בְּשֶׁמֶן דָּגִים, בְּשֶׁמֶן פַּקּוּעוֹת, בְּעִטְרָן וּבְנֵפְט. רַבִּי טַרְפוֹן אוֹמֵר, אֵין מַדְלִיקִין אֶלָּא בְשֶׁמֶן זַיִת בִּלְבָד:
כָּל הַיּוֹצֵא מִן הָעֵץ אֵין מַדְלִיקִין בּוֹ אֶלָּא פִשְׁתָּן. וְכָל הַיּוֹצֵא מִן הָעֵץ אֵינוֹ מִטַּמֵּא טֻמְאַת אֹהָלִים אֶלָּא פִשְׁתָּן. פְּתִילַת הַבֶּגֶד שֶׁקִּפְּלָהּ וְלֹא הִבְהֲבָהּ, רַבִּי אֱלִיעֶזֶר אוֹמֵר, טְמֵאָה, וְאֵין מַדְלִיקִין בָּהּ. רַבִּי עֲקִיבָא אוֹמֵר, טְהוֹרָה, וּמַדְלִיקִין בָּהּ:
לֹא יִקֹּב אָדָם שְׁפוֹפֶרֶת שֶׁל בֵּיצָה וִימַלְאֶנָּה שֶׁמֶן וְיִתְּנֶנָּה עַל פִּי הַנֵּר בִּשְׁבִיל שֶׁתְּהֵא מְנַטֶּפֶת, אֲפִלּוּ הִיא שֶׁל חֶרֶס. וְרַבִּי יְהוּדָה מַתִּיר. אֲבָל אִם חִבְּרָהּ הַיּוֹצֵר מִתְּחִלָּה, מֻתָּר, מִפְּנֵי שֶׁהוּא כְלִי אֶחָד. לֹא יְמַלֵּא אָדָם אֶת הַקְּעָרָה שֶׁמֶן וְיִתְּנֶנָּה בְצַד הַנֵּר וְיִתֵּן רֹאשׁ הַפְּתִילָה בְתוֹכָהּ, בִּשְׁבִיל שֶׁתְּהֵא שׁוֹאֶבֶת. וְרַבִּי יְהוּדָה מַתִּיר:
הַמְכַבֶּה אֶת הַנֵּר מִפְּנֵי שֶׁהוּא מִתְיָרֵא מִפְּנֵי גוֹיִם, מִפְּנֵי לִסְטִים, מִפְּנֵי רוּחַ רָעָה, וְאִם בִּשְׁבִיל הַחוֹלֶה שֶׁיִּישַׁן, פָּטוּר. כְּחָס עַל הַנֵּר, כְּחָס עַל הַשֶּׁמֶן, כְּחָס עַל הַפְּתִילָה, חַיָּב. וְרַבִּי יוֹסֵי פּוֹטֵר בְּכֻלָּן חוּץ מִן הַפְּתִילָה, מִפְּנֵי שֶׁהוּא עוֹשָׂהּ פֶּחָם:
עַל שָׁלשׁ עֲבֵרוֹת נָשִׁים מֵתוֹת בִּשְׁעַת לֵדָתָן, עַל שֶׁאֵינָן זְהִירוֹת בַּנִּדָּה וּבַחַלָּה וּבְהַדְלָקַת הַנֵּר:
שְׁלשָׁה דְבָרִים צָרִיךְ אָדָם לוֹמַר בְּתוֹךְ בֵּיתוֹ עֶרֶב שַׁבָּת עִם חֲשֵׁכָה. עִשַּׂרְתֶּם. עֵרַבְתֶּם. הַדְלִיקוּ אֶת הַנֵּר. סָפֵק חֲשֵׁכָה סָפֵק אֵין חֲשֵׁכָה, אֵין מְעַשְּׂרִין אֶת הַוַּדַּאי, וְאֵין מַטְבִּילִין אֶת הַכֵּלִים, וְאֵין מַדְלִיקִין אֶת הַנֵּרוֹת, אֲבָל מְעַשְּׂרִין אֶת הַדְּמַאי, וּמְעָרְבִין, וְטוֹמְנִין אֶת הַחַמִּין:
תַּנְיָא, חֲנַנְיָא אוֹמֵר: חַיָּיב אָדָם לְמַשְׁמֵשׁ בְּבִגְדוֹ עֶרֶב שַׁבָּת עִם חֲשֵׁכָה שֶׁמָּא יִשְׁכַּח וְיֵצֵא. אָמַר רַב יוֹסֵף: הִלְכְתָא רַבָּתִי לְשַׁבָּתָא.
אָמַר רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר אָמַר רַבִּי חֲנִינָא. תַּלְמִידֵי חֲכָמִים מַרְבִּים שָׁלוֹם בָּעוֹלָם. שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר וְכָל בָּנַֽיִךְ לִמּוּדֵי יְהֹוָה וְרַב שְׁלוֹם בָּנָֽיךְ:אַל תִּקְרֵי בָּנָֽיךְ אֶלָּא בּוֹנָֽיךְ:שָׁלוֹם רָב לְאֹהֲבֵי תוֹרָתֶֽךָ וְאֵין לָֽמוֹ מִכְשׁוֹל:יְהִי שָׁלוֹם בְּחֵילֵךְ שַׁלְוָה בְּאַרְמְּנוֹתָֽיךְ לְמַֽעַן אַחַי וְרֵעָי אֲדַבְּרָה נָא שָׁלוֹם בָּךְ:לְמַֽעַן בֵּית יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ אֲבַקְשָׁה טוֹב לָךְ:יְהֹוָה עוֹז לְעַמּוֹ יִתֵּן יְהֹוָה יְבָרֵךְ אֶת־עַמּוֹ בַּשָּׁלוֹם:
