Chapter 124
1שִׁיר הַֽמַּעֲלוֹת לְדָוִד לוּלֵי יְהֹוָה שֶׁהָיָה לָנוּ יֹאמַר־נָא יִשְׂרָאֵֽלA song of ascents. Of David. Were it not for GOD, who was on our side, let Israel now declare,Shir hamaalot ledavid luley Adonai shehayah lanu yomar-na yisrael
2לוּלֵי יְהֹוָה שֶׁהָיָה לָנוּ בְּקוּם עָלֵינוּ אָדָֽםwere it not for GOD, who was on our side when others assailed us,Luley Adonai shehayah lanu bekum aleynu adam
3אֲזַי חַיִּים בְּלָעוּנוּ בַּחֲרוֹת אַפָּם בָּֽנוּthey would have swallowed us alive in their burning rage against us;Azay chayim belaunu bacharot apam banu
4אֲזַי הַמַּיִם שְׁטָפוּנוּ נַחְלָה עָבַר עַל־נַפְשֵֽׁנוּthe waters would have carried us off, the torrent would have swept over us;Azay hamayim shetafunu nachlah avar al-nafshenu
5אֲזַי עָבַר עַל־נַפְשֵׁנוּ הַמַּיִם הַזֵּידוֹנִֽיםover us would have swept the seething waters.Azay avar al-nafshenu hamayim hazeydonim
6בָּרוּךְ יְהֹוָה שֶׁלֹּא נְתָנָנוּ טֶרֶף לְשִׁנֵּיהֶֽםBlessed is GOD, who did not let us be ripped apart by their teeth.Baruch Adonai shelo netananu teref leshineyhem
7נַפְשֵׁנוּ כְּצִפּוֹר נִמְלְטָה מִפַּח יוֹקְשִׁים הַפַּח נִשְׁבָּר וַאֲנַחְנוּ נִמְלָֽטְנוּWe are like a bird escaped from the fowler’s trap; the trap broke and we escaped.Nafshenu ketzipor nimltah mipach yokshim hapach nishbar vaanachnu nimlatnu
8עֶזְרֵנוּ בְּשֵׁם יְהֹוָה עֹשֵׂה שָׁמַיִם וָאָֽרֶץOur help is the name of GOD, maker of heaven and earth.Ezrenu beshem Adonai oseh shamayim vaaretz
